Description
The patient must stay in a stable lateral position throughout hip surgery performed via the lateral approach, giving the surgical team consistent access to the surgical site. The Patient Positioner provides this stability without electrical components. A rigid stainless steel frame and pressure-relieving pads hold the patient in position.
The device consists of a main frame built from stainless steel with flattened sides that prevent rotational movement, paired with three PU-moulded pressure pads: two smaller anterior pads rest against the patient’s thighs, and one larger posterior pad supports the lower back. The unit attaches to the operating table using standard Clark sockets, with optional siderail clamps available. Adjustable side-rail clamps and mechanical locking mechanisms secure the unit and hold the selected position throughout the procedure.
The Patient Positioner is a Class I device under Rule 1: a non-invasive device used externally to support and stabilize patient positioning that does not modify biological processes or administer energy. It is a reusable device built for repeated cleaning and disinfection, with corrosion- and wear-resistant materials suited to normal clinical conditions.
Storage
Storage Specifications:
- Devices shall be stored in a clean, dry, and well-ventilated area.
- Storage temperature range: 15°C – 30°C (or as defined by manufacturer).
- Relative humidity: ≤ 75% non-condensing.

The Patient Positioner is a reusable device with no defined expiration date when stored under the specified conditions. Proper storage, handling, and maintenance determine shelf life.
Handling
- Handle with care to prevent mechanical damage.
- Avoid dropping the device or subjecting it to impact or excessive force.
- Use appropriate lifting techniques in consideration of device weight.
- Do not autoclave.
